Not sure how many of you even heard of Vine, but it doesn’t matter because Twitter is shutting it down. Vine started out as an independent app a few years ago that allowed users to post 6-second videos. At the time, Vine was a pretty big deal and a lot of people used it to promote their brands. It was so popular in fact, that Twitter bought the startup for $30 million and put it in it’s pocket. It hasn’t been heard of much since, and Twitter just announced yesterday that it would shut down the video service.
Now, everyone who built a brand on Vine is shit out of luck…but that’s what happens when you don’t plant your own seeds in your own Earth first. Let me make this clear; all of your content, videos, pictures, words, need to originate FROM your own property first, meaning your website. After that, do whatever the hell you want to with it, but it needs to start on your site!
